PASSION FOR EXCELLENCE
A stone’s throw from the harbor, this is where locals devour huge platters of raw seafood and crustaceans. They don’t ask for the menu but let Pasquale, the owner, explain the specials of the day. Pasquale is passionate about the quality of the food and the service at Pescandalo. Do not expect simple spaghetti vongole or deep fried seafood here. Vito, the chef and co-owner, is very creative and surprises with new pasta with seafood and fish combinations regularly. Some of my favorite dishes are eggplant stuffed with fish, raw giant clams (noci), baked oysters (not on the menu, but usually available), local tuna tartar (or some other type of fish tartar), or whole fish of the day, prepared in various ways. Pescandalo is often fully booked, especially on weekends and during warm months when tables are set outside under the bougainvilla. Italians come here to enjoy the superbly fresh products from the sea and have a great time. I love to see all this happiness going on around me. Occasionally, it makes time stand still and reminds me what a magical place Italy can be. All this at beautiful Piazza Plebiscito romantically lit up at night.
Closed on Sunday evenings and on Mondays.
